A woman who stole more than $1 million from a Perth building company to fund her “expensive lifestyle” has been jailed for six years.
Annabelle Martincic, 41, was sentenced in the WA District Court on Friday after she was found guilty of 185 counts of stealing, following a jury trial earlier this year.
The court was told how mother of three Martincic stole more than $1.1 million over a two-year period from M3 Residential, a Perth company that built single and double storey houses.
Martincic was granted access to the company’s bank accounts and did some financial work for them “voluntarily” due to the fact the father of her children was a co-director of the company.
In total Martincic stole $1,147,927 from M3’s accounts between 2014-2016.
Her crimes were discovered when another director of the company – Marc Marusco – started getting phone calls from creditors whose invoices were not being paid.
The company subsequently went into voluntary administration in 2016.
